· Un sottile filo conduttore unisce tutti i magnifici oggetti presentati nella mostra, che esplora anche l’influenza del Giappone sui mestieri d’arte europei
La mostra Dettagli: genealogie dell'ornamento, curata da Judith Clark e da lei progettata in collaborazione con Sam Collins, presenta il potere trasformativo dell’alto artigianato attraverso le produzioni di 15 maison di lusso dedicate alla realizzazione dei migliori orologi, kimono, gioielli e molto altro ancora. I visitatori potranno osservare i maestri artigiani al lavoro nell’intimità dei loro studi, ispirati al dipinto di Antonello da Messina San Girolamo nel suo studio, attualmente esposto alla National Gallery di Londra. Tra gli altri, uno smaltatore di Vacheron Constantin e un creatore di kimono di Chiso sveleranno i gesti segreti necessari per realizzare pezzi unici. Le pannellature dei muri e i pavimenti, realizzati a mano appositamente per la mostra, riflettono il patrimonio di ciascun mestiere e degli strumenti a essi correlati, mentre una selezione di oggetti iconici rivela le origini dello stile decorativo di ogni maison, o l'influenza del Giappone sugli artigiani europei.
Situata nel lungo edificio dell'Ex-Scuola Nautica, fino a poco tempo fa abbandonato, piuttosto che conformarsi a una narrazione visiva unica o progressiva, la mostra presenta oggetti preziosi raggruppati intorno a un percorso delimitato che agiscono come mini "costellazioni" che cambiano il loro schema a seconda di dove si trova il visitatore. Lungo il percorso siedono artigiani intenti a "rifinire" gli oggetti in mostra: tra questi, anche i maestri artigiani delle 15 maison partecipanti. Il loro atteggiamento vuole dimostrare non solo che stanno partecipando ad un atto collaborativo, ma altresì che sono assorbiti dal proprio specifico mestiere.

Organised by the Michelangelo Foundation for Creativity and Craftsmanship, the Homo Faber Event is an international exhibition that champions artisanal talent, showcasing an impressive variety of materials, techniques and skills through live demonstrations, immersive digital experiences and imaginative displays of handcrafted creations. From functional everyday objects to outstanding decorative pieces, this edition highlights craft’s role in creating a more sustainable and inclusive future. The event offers a rare chance to admire the prestigious work of a selection of Japan’s National Living Treasures and to experience craft and its connections to the arts and to the design world. Visitors can join guided tours of the 15 exhibition spaces led by passionate students participating in the Young Ambassadors Programme. Imagined by a team of world-renowned curators and designers, the scenographic event transforms the magnificent spaces of the Fondazione Giorgio Cini, located on San Giorgio Maggiore Island in the heart of the Venetian lagoon. Judith Clark
Judith Clark is a curator and fashion exhibition designer and currently Professor of Fashion and Museology at University of the Arts London, where she co-directs the Centre for Fashion Curation. Clark opened the first experimental gallery of fashion in London. Since then she has curated 40 exhibitions of dress. Commissioning museums include the V&A in London, ModeMuseum in Antwerp and Palazzo Pitti in Florence. In 2015 she curated and designed the inaugural exhibition at La Galerie Louis Vuitton in Asnières. In 2018 she created the Fashion Inside and Out exhibition for the inaugural Homo Faber Event. Clark lectures internationally on issues of dress display.
