L’exposition Homo Faber révèle les secrets de la restauration d’art
Ce qui échappe à notre regard lorsque nous admirons une œuvre d’art restaurée :
En septembre, les visiteurs de l’exposition Homo Faber à Venise pénètreront dans les arcanes du monde de la restauration d’art dans un espace consacré : Restoring Art's Masters. Isabella Villafranca Soissons, Directrice de conservation et de restauration chez Open Care, un chef de file milanais de la restauration d’art, fera venir à Venise ses maîtres restaurateurs afin qu’ils présentent leur travail artisanal sous les yeux des visiteurs, en restaurant cinq œuvres d’art anciennes et contemporaines : une tapisserie, une peinture ancienne, une œuvre contemporaine, un coffre en bois et plâtre du 16e siècle et une œuvre emblématique du design – un immense pied en mousse de polyéthylène.
La restauration est d’ordinaire une compétence invisible qui ne laisse aucune trace sur l’œuvre d’art. Lors de l’exposition Homo Faber, les visiteurs auront l’occasion unique d’assister de très près à ce processus. Grâce à l’utilisation de caméras GoPro, ils pourront observer en quoi consiste le travail des restaurateurs, dans les moindres détails, à mesure que ceux-ci s’appliquent à insuffler un nouvel élan de vie aux œuvres.

Restoring Art’s Masters est l’un des 16 espaces d’exposition qui composent Homo Faber: Crafting a more human future, une exposition majeure en hommage aux métiers d'art européens, organisée par la Michelangelo Foundation.
