The festive season is a time of joy and shared moments between family and friends. Across homes and countries the rituals may change, but the essence remains the same, it is a meaningful time where we slow down and gather to savour culinary delights, create festive atmospheres in our homes and exchange gifts.

From homemade recipes to handcrafted decorations, the human touch brings personality and originality to how we enjoy the festive season. It is the small but thoughtful details that make the holidays more special and memorable. Craftsmanship offers a more conscious and sustainable way of consuming and a chance to create with our own hands.

To celebrate the link between the festive season and craftsmanship, this year Homo Faber Guide is creating a special feature on flower designers and their festive and seasonal creations. The participating florists are: Gabor Nagy, Emily Avenson, Katya Hutter and sisters Laura, Mara and Teresa Cugusi, the trio behind Puscina flowers. They will each present a step-by-step video tutorial on how to create their chosen adornment from a mantelpiece arrangement to a wreath, a centrepiece to a bouquet. The festive collaboration is a chance to bring the floristry craft into your homes, and enjoy a creative experience with your nearest and dearest.

Homo Faber Guide is brimming with festive inspiration, we’ve rounded up our favourite picks for this year’s seasonal gift guide. For a unique gift, Duvelleroy take two centuries of history and add a contemporary touch to their handcrafted fans. Functionality meets craftsmanship in Francesco Maglia’s bespoke umbrellas, a wonderful present which will brighten any rainy day. For dog lovers, Jacopo Malucchi’s fun leather accessories add a touch of glamour to canine friends. For the home, look to the creativity and joy of Navid and Sahand Gholipour’s woodwork.
