The Istituto Europeo di Design (IED) was founded in 1966 by Francesco Morelli in Italy. A leading global design institution, IED is known for its innovative approach to design education. With 11 campuses globally, IED places an emphasis on cultural, creative, and critical skills. It offers internship programmes with major brands, fosters international experiences, and maintains alumni connections. In 2005, Brazil was chosen to host the first school of Istituto Europeo di Design outside Europe in São Paulo with the aim of expanding connections with students, teachers and professionals who can develop creative ideas through design. The IED in Rio de Janeiro has its headquarters at Casa d'Itália. IED São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro serve as hubs for students to engage with professionals and develop a broad perspective on design challenges, fostering innovation and creative solutions. IED has been pivotal in promoting and enhancing design culture in Brazil by hosting creative activities, open classes, and industry events.
