A new educational programme that offers aspiring young craftspeople their first paid opportunity in the professional artisanal world while giving master artisans the chance to teach their craft and increase their business capacity. The programme funds selected young people on a six-month paid placement in the workshop of a master artisan in their local area, including one month’s theoretical study at a participating regional institution. The Trainee to Professional programme draws its inspiration from the success of Una Scuola, un Lavoro. Percorsi di Eccellenza (A School, a Job. Training to Excellence), founded 10 years ago in Italy by Milan-based Fondazione Cologni dei Mestieri d’Arte.
