Trainee to Professional Programme – January 2022

Michelangelo Foundation has launched a new educational programme to enable young craftspeople to experience the professional artisanal world.

It will fund selected young people on a six-month paid placement in the workshop of a master artisan in their local area, including one month’s theoretical study at a participating regional institution.

The pilot edition is currently taking place in Spain and France with six selected trainees and master artisans in partnership with the foundation’s network members Contemporánea de Artes y Oficios and The Craft Project.

The Trainee to Professional programme draws its inspiration from the successful initiative Una Scuola, un Lavoro. Percorsi di Eccellenza (A School, a Job. Training to Excellence) founded 10 years ago in Italy by Fondazione Cologni dei Mestieri d’Arte.
