Arts & Crafts | New Design Biennial

The first edition of Arts & Crafts | New Design Biennial focuses on craftsmanship, technology, innovation and sustainability. Taking place in the centre of Oeiras, Portugal, from 20 to 21 September, the programme consists of an international conference, a fair with workshops and masterclasses, and a presentation of short films.

The biennial seeks to be a pioneering event for the national arts and crafts scene, bringing people in contact with intangible cultural heritage and new contemporary visions. The event bridges the knowledge of elderly people with the innovation of younger people, both in the field of materials and design, as well as in the forms of consumption and distribution.

Thanks to the plurality of actions that distinguish it, as well as the territorial areas it encompasses, the Biennial aims to be a pioneering event in the national panorama of Portuguese Crafts, in order to contribute to its consolidation, as well as to bring citizens closer to both the intangible heritage and the contemporary creations it creates.
